Conference / Multiway Calling

Conference calling allows multiple users to share one active telephone call simultaneously, as well as create a conference room for users to join. Intulse provides two different conference calling options:

  1. Multi‐Way Calling is useful for joining a few users together on one phone call. This option adds users one at a time by adding a new call to an existing call.
  2. An Audio Bridge allows each user to dial a specific number that is linked to the audio bridge. Once active, they can converse with everyone who is currently in that audio bridge.

Intulse also provides a video conference solution called Intulse Meetings. Click here to learn more about our video conferencing option.

Multiway Calling

This type of conference calling is great for adding a third person to an existing phone call, or to merge two current or incoming calls.

To create a conference call using a physical phone:

  1. While on an active call, press the conference button to place your current call on hold.
  2. Dial the extension or ten‐digit phone number of the person you would like to add to the call.
  3. While on the secondary active call, press the conference softkey, or the conference button.
  4. Once you are conferenced with both calls, you have the option to add new people to the multiway call, split the call, or end the call.

These instructions are generic and may need to be adjusted based on your specific phone model. For more information about your exact phone, find your model on the Your Phone page.

To create a conference call using the Virtual Phone:

  1. While on an active call, start a new call or answer an incoming call. You need to have two calls connected to your virtual phone before you can continue.
  2. From the active call screen, select the "Conference" option.
  3. You we be presented with a list of connected calls. Choose the call to conference into your current call, or connect all calls.

Audio Bridge

An audio bridge allows many users to share a "virtual conference room" for open communication between everyone. This works great when you want to convene many users at once.

Joining an audio bridge from an “inside” phone

A list of audio bridges can be found on the Conferences screen of your Intulse App.
Each person joining the conference call will dial the audio bridge number directly from their Intulse app or connected device.

NOTE: Your experience when joining a conference will vary based on the configuration options chosen for that conference room. For example, you may be asked for a PIN or to record your name upon entering.

Joining an audio bridge from an “outside” phone

There are many ways an organization can allow outside callers to join an audio bridge. Here are some of the most common methods.

  • An option on a voice menu can place the caller directly in an audio bridge. This can be announced in the system recording or left unannounced and communicated individually.
  • A dedicated phone number can be routed directly into an audio bridge.
  • A dedicated phone number can be routed to a voice menu that provides callers with a choice of several audio bridges.
  • Callers can be transferred into an audio bridge by anyone on a phone connected to your Intulse system.

Audio Bridge configuration options

There are many setting options for an Audio Bridge that can change the caller's experience. These are all managed within the Intulse App. For more information, see the Conferences › Audio Bridge section of the Intulse App Walkthrough.
