T46S USER GUIDE


OVERVIEW

The Yealink T46S has a high-resolution color display. It offers programmable keys and clear sound quality. This phone has been discontinued by Yealink.

PLACING A CALL

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Start typing a phone number.
    • Select the desired line key.
    • Pick up the handset, then press the Speaker or Headset key.
  2. Enter an extension or external phone number.
  3. Press the Send softkey.

Calls placed from your Intulse app when your Virtual Phone is disabled will begin from a connected physical device. When you enter the name or number in the app and click the call button, any enabled desk phones assigned to your extension will also ring. When you pick up the call on one of those devices, you will hear the outgoing ringtone because the system is in the process of calling the intended party.

Placing Multiple Calls

When you are in a call, you can hold your current call and place a new call.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select a line key. The active call is placed on hold.
    • Press the Hold key to place the original call on hold.
  2. Select New Call.
  3. Enter the desired number.
  4. Press the Send softkey.

ANSWERING A CALL

When you receive an incoming call, the phone will ring and the screen will display caller ID details related to the incoming call. You can choose to answer the incoming call.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Pick up the handset.
    • Press the Speaker key.
    • Press the Headset key.
    • Press Answer or the line key that has the flashing green LED indicator.

Note: When pressing the Answer key, the call is answered in the speakerphone (hands-free) mode by default.

Answering a Second Incoming Call

If Call Waiting is enabled on your phone AND your Intulse app, you can answer an incoming call even if you are currently on an active call. A call waiting tone will alert you of the new call and the incoming caller ID details will be displayed on your phone.

  1. Press the Answer softkey.
  2. The active call is placed on hold, and the incoming call becomes active.

Note: Call Waiting must be enabled to utilize this feature.

HOLDING & RESUMING CALLS

You can place an active call on hold and resume the call when you are ready. When you place a call on hold, the held party will hear hold music by default.

Holding a Call

You can place an active call on hold on your phone.

Press the Hold key during a call.

  • The phone ignores engaged audio device (handset or headset) and plays a beep in the Speakerphone (hands-free) mode by default. The Speakerphone key will always light up and the phone will beep softly every 30 seconds to remind you that you still have a call on hold.
  • When you have multiple calls on the phone and the current call is held, you can press the corresponding line key to swap to the active call.
Resuming a Held Call

You can view and resume a held call on the phone.

  1. Press the Hold key again, then the corresponding line key or the Resume softkey. If multiple calls are placed on hold, select the desired call first.
    • Note: When you have multiple calls on the phone and the current call is active, you can select Swap to swap to the held call.

TRANSFERRING A CALL

During a call, you can transfer the call to another contact.

You have a few transfer options:

  1. Blind Transfer: Transfer a call directly to the third party without any interaction.
  2. Semi-Attended Transfer: This places the caller on hold and allows you to hear a ringback tone before transferring the call. If the user at that extension isn't available, you can retrieve the caller from hold.
  3. Attended Transfer: This puts the caller on hold, allowing you to communicate with the intended recipient before the call is transferred.

Note: Many organizations use call parking instead of transfers because it's an easier way to move a call to other users.

Performing a BLIND transfer

A blind transfer sends the caller to another extension without any interaction between the person transferring the call and the extension receiving the transfer.

  1. Press the Transfer key during a call.
  2. Choose an extension or speed dial line key, or type a phone number using the keypad and press the B Transfer softkey.
  3. The call will be immediately transferred to the recipient.
Performing a SEMI-ATTENDED or ATTENDED transfer

A semi-attended transfer places the caller on hold and allows you to hear a ringback tone before transferring the call. If the user at that extension isn't available, you can retrieve the caller from hold. An attended transfer puts the caller on hold so you can communicate with the intended recipient prior to the call being transferred.

  1. Press the Transfer key during an active call.
  2. Enter the number or select a contact from the placed call list that you want to transfer the call to.
  3. Press the OK key or Send.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • When you hear the ringback tone, press the Transfer key to finish a semi-attended transfer.
    • After the contact answers the call, press the Transfer key to finish an attended transfer.

Note: If you wish to move calls around while having the opportunity to speak with the destination before they receive the call, then Intulse recommends using call parking instead of attended transfers in most cases.

To transfer a call directly to a voicemail, enter an asterisk before the extension number. For example, to transfer a call to the voicemail for extension 107, perform a transfer to *107.

CALL PARKING

Call parking is a process of placing a call on hold in a predefined “space”. Anyone can retrieve that call at a later time by pressing the corresponding button on their phone or dialing the spaces number.

Parking a call
  1. While on an active call, press one of your programmed buttons which corresponds to a parking space.
    • If your organization has many parking spaces, you may not have a button which corresponds to every parking space in your organization. In this case, you can also perform an attended transfer of an active call to a special number assigned to the parking lot which will announce which space the call has been parked in.
Retrieving a parked call
  1. Press one of your programmed buttons which corresponds to the parking space holding the call you wish to retrieve.
    • If your organization has many parking spaces, you may not have a button which corresponds to every parking space in your organization. In this case, you can dial the number assigned to the parking space holding the call you wish to retrieve.
Using call parking to move calls around your organization

Call parking can be an easy way for organizations to move calls around instead of transferring them. For example, let us suppose that an office professional named John answers many incoming calls per day. John may wish to send some of those calls to his manager, James. When a call comes in John can park the call in a space for which he knows both he and James have buttons. He can then call James and tell him that someone is holding for him in “Park 71”. Then, James can hang up with John and press the button on his phone for that space to pick up the call. If James tells John that he cannot take the call at this time John can retrieve the call himself. If no one picks up the call from the parking space it will eventually ring the person who parked it and attempt to return the call to them.

MULTIWAY/CONFERENCE CALLING

There are different ways of doing multiway calls and Intulse has a dedicated guide that covers each of those options. This section will be dedicated to multiway calling.

  1. Place a call to the first party.
  2. When the first party answers the call, select Conference to place a new call.
    • The active call is placed on hold.
  3. Dial the second party’s number.
    • You can also select the desired contact from the search list, or select a contact from the placed call list before you enter the number.
  4. When the second party answers the call, select Conference again to merge the two callers into the conference.
Merging Two Calls into a Conference

You can also invite a held call into a conference call with the active call.

  1. Place two calls on the phone.
  2. Select the desired call for a conference and ensure that the call is active.
  3. Select Conference.
  4. Highlight the desired hold call, and select Send.
Splitting a Conference Call

You can split the conference call into individual calls.

  1. Begin a conference call on your phone.
  2. Select Split.
    After the split, the conference call ends, and both callers are placed on hold.

ACCESSING THE VOICEMAIL SYSTEM

Accessing your personal voicemail

Press the voicemail button ().

  1. Enter your password (if you have one) and, optionally, press pound (#).
  2. The default password for any voicemail box is the mailbox number.
Accessing another user’s (shared) voicemail

Your phone may be configured so one of your programmable buttons is monitoring another voicemail box. It will turn red if that mailbox has new messages.

  1. Press the programmed button.
  2. Enter your password (if you have one) and, optionally, press pound (#).
    • The default password for any voicemail box is the mailbox number.
