SWITCHING TEXT MESSAGING SERVICE

When choosing a new texting service it is very important to fully consider your options and be aware of all the features provided before making a decision. We want to make sure you understand the service we are providing, and how it works, so you can determine whether the Intulse phone system fits the needs of your organization.

The first thing to consider is what you are going to do with your phone number. You will need two separate numbers: one for personal use and one for business purposes. You will need to decide whether to use your current number for business purposes and acquire a new personal number, or whether to use your current number for your personal communication and obtain a new number for your business.

Let's take a look at the your two options:
1) You can continue using your personal number on your cell phone, and sign up for a new business number through Intulse.
2) You can transfer your current personal number to Intulse to be used for business purposes, and acquire a new personal number from your mobile carrier.

The question that will help you make this decision is: Would you rather provide a new phone number to your family and friends, or to your clients?

Option 1: You choose to continue using your personal number on your cell phone, and sign up for a NEW BUSINESS NUMBER through Intulse.
The benefit of this option is that you keep your personal phone number and don't need to inform your family and friends of a new personal phone number. A drawback is that you must inform your clients of a new phone number. With this option, you MUST obtain a new business number from Intulse. This allows you to keep your current number connected to your personal cell phone and use a different business number through the Intulse App.

Option 2: You choose to transfer your current personal number to Intulse to be used for business purposes, and acquire a NEW PERSONAL NUMBER from your mobile carrier.
The benefit of this option is that you don't need to inform your clients of a change in phone numbers. A drawback is that you must inform your friends and family of a new personal phone number. With this option, you MUST obtain a new personal cell number from your cellular provider.

Transferring your phone number to Intulse means it will no longer be associated with your personal cell phone at all. It will solely be associated with the Intulse app and any physical devices connected to your Intulse system. This number will now be subject to 10DLC and Brand Registration, which you can learn about in this article.

Sending Text Messages via the Intulse phone system
One significant difference between traditional phone systems and the Intulse phone system is the way text messaging works.
No matter which option you choose, the following will be true:

  • All business related texts that need to be recorded must be sent through the Intulse app, not the cellular messaging app on your mobile device.
  • You will not be able to send business related texts via the Intulse App using your personal cell number. You will need to use your new business phone number for your Intulse app.
  • Texting works differently in the Intulse app than it does in a personal cell phone messaging app. Take some time to familiarize yourself with how SMS texting works at Intulse. A detailed explanation of SMS texting and other Chat features within the Intulse App can be found on the Intulse support site.
