Customize your Automated Text Responses in the Account Center

Intulse uses industry standardized techniques to reduce the chances of your phone number being flagged for Spam.

In a continued effort to minimize SMS SPAM, Intulse now uses industry standardized techniques to allow SMS recipients to OPT-IN or OPT-OUT of receiving messages. Recipients of texts will now receive four basic automated responses: START, STOP, HELP, and FIRST MESSAGE. The goal is to reduce the chances of your number being flagged for SPAM. These messages can be customized in the Account Center, under the Manage Phone Numbers tab.

Automated messages will appear to come from Intulse Super Brain, which is just a silly name for our automation system. The recipient does not see this, only you as the sender.

There are 4 basic messages that will automatically be triggered in an SMS text conversation.

Texting START or STOP will allow the recipient of the text to OPT-IN or OPT-OUT of the conversation.

  • If the recipient texts START, it will send a message acknowledging that they have opted into the conversation and informing them of their options to text STOP or HELP in the future.
  • If they text STOP, it will send a message acknowledging that they have opted out, and informing them that they can text START to opt back in.
  • Texting HELP will trigger the HELP message, explaining the START and STOP options.
  • The FIRST MESSAGE informs the recipient of the text that they can reply by texting STOP or HELP. They will receive this message when a new SMS text conversation is started.

When a recipient texts STOP, the system will no longer allow YOU to send messages to that number. However, if that recipient subsequently texts the word START to you, then the system will allow you to once again text that number.

This is the default text that will be displayed for each of the 4 messages.
  • START: "You have opted in to receiving messages from this number. You can reply with STOP to opt out of receiving messages or HELP for more information."
  • STOP: "You have opted out of receiving messages from this number. You can reply with START to opt in to receiving messages again."
  • HELP: "You can reply with START to opt in to receiving messages from this number or you can reply with STOP to opt out of receiving messages from this number. Messages and data rates apply."
  • FIRST MESSAGE: “This is the first time we've communicated on this number using our new messaging system. You can reply with STOP to opt out of receiving messages or HELP for more information.”

You can customize all 4 automated messages. Any customizations must comply with the FCC rules about A2P text messages. If you would like to customize your automated response messages, your system administrator can log into the Account Center and go to the manage phone numbers page. More detailed information about customizing your messages can be found on the Phone Numbers page of the Account Center Walkthrough.
